Using gender equality indicators to support gender mainstreaming work at the Department of Information Technology

Previous research has shown that gender statistics can be a powerful tool to raise organizational awareness of gender issues. This report presents the results of a project that investigated how Uppsala University’s gender equality indicators can be used to monitor the gender distribution of research resources and funding at the Department of Information Technology and how they can be used in a long-term perspective to improve gender mainstreaming work at the department. Results show that gender differences exist and they are sometimes in favour of females and sometimes in favour of males. This analysis raises several questions of relevance to future gender mainstreaming work at the department.
