Grading Scheme (1DT052) Autumn 2012
To pass the course you need to have a pass grade for the Practical Part, and a grade of 3, 4 or 5 in the Theory Part. Your final grade is the grade in the Theory Part.
Practical Part
Examination in the practical part of the course consists of one assignment and two laboratory exercises with a written report. These exercises are graded Pass/Fail according to the scheme described in the table below. A "Pass" in the practical part is achieved when a grade of "Pass" has been recorded for all three exercises.
Grade | Code | Definition |
---|---|---|
Pass | G | The work has been completed correctly and the associated theory questions answered in a manner that convinces the examiner that the student has understood the material and is capable of applying the relevant theories in practice. |
Re-submit | K | The work is not correct in some important aspect, or the examiner is not convinced that the student has demonstrated the ability to apply theory to practice in a convincing manner. The work needs to be enhanced and/or explained again to the examiner. The work must be corrected and submitted again for examination as explained in the written instructions that accompany your assignment when we return it to you. |
Fail | U | The work submitted is severely lacking, and the examiner has determined that the work could not be raised to an acceptable standard during the course. The work cannot be resubmitted for credit in the current course instance. |
Theory Part
The theory part of the course is assessed by (5 hour) written examination.
Your final grade for the course is your grade on the theory examination.
