Measuring and visualizing indoor climate efficiency using WSN technology

Various sensors, such as temperature, humidity, motion/presence detection, sound levels, etc, will monitor various rooms and the data will be collected via a gateway to a web server.

The project

The students will design, implement, and test a system that can be used to measure the indoor climate control of a building or part of a building. The collected data can be analyzed and presented to a user for efficiency judgment. It must be possible to see which rooms are in use and when, what's their temperature/humidity, when the lights on, etc. The building management should be able to use the presented results to trim the buildings climate control system and optimize it to the use of the building.

The team

Team size 4 - 6 members. One or two team members should study other similar measurements and compare both the test system as well as comparing the results.

Equipment

We will use Contiki and Zolertia Z1 sensors with off-the-shelf sensors for this project.
