Here are instructions for an exercise to get you started using secure email. After following the instructions, send me an email and I'll help you check that it all worked out.

Write a program to break a simple shift cipher using statistical analysis rather than brute force. Use your favourite language.

Example 2.3 and (the proof of) Theorem 2.3 are instructive.
Exercises 2.1-2.6 should be nice.
