Computer Science

This programme offers a broad education in Computer Science, including design, implementation and evaluation of computer systems, with a focus on software. The aim of the programme is to provide knowledge and analytical skills that have a long lasting value. The curriculum focuses on problem solving and general principles, rather than on particular programming languages or hardware platforms. The programme prepares you for an internationalized, highly qualified labor market in industry or research.

Specialisation: Sino-Swedish Master's Programme in Computer Science and Software Engineering

The Sino-Swedish specialisation offers one year of studies at National Taiwan Normal University, NTNU, Taiwan. You will have the opportunity to live in two cultures, and form close ties with two cities in different countries – which in turn will open doors in an international labour market. The programme includes courses in Computer Science based on the research specialisations of NTNU. There are also courses with a cultural content (such as languages or intercultural relationships). Successful students can obtain a dual degree with one master degree from Uppsala University and one from NTNU.

Computational Science

A multidisciplinary programme, ranging from advanced computers and software to chemistry, biology, physics and engineering. The Master Programme in Computational Science provides you with the opportunity to broaden and deepen your knowledge of natural science or technology, with a specialisation in computers and mathematical modelling. Image Analysis and Machine Learning

The use of digital images and video has increased dramatically over the last few decades.The Master's Programme in Image Analysis and Machine Learning gives you a comprehensive understanding of its two main subjects, and enables you to develop computer systems which can learn to make efficient and intelligent analyses of visual information. The potential applications of the acquired skill set are vast: You can help medical doctors plan surgeries to fit each individual patient, support them in detecting and curing cancer or rare diseases, assist historians and archaeologists in analysing huge archives of historical documents, or contribute to the development of robots who can understand human feelings.

The programme focuses on all issues involved in creating usable IT-systems. Most of the courses are based on projects which use real-world problems through our cooperation with leading Swedish companies.
