Abstract:

A nonsymmetric formulation of saddle-point systems is considered and symmetric part preconditioning of the conjugate gradient method (CGM) is applied. Linear and superlinear convergence estimates are derived for the finite element solution of the Stokes problem and of Navier's equations of elasticity.
